FAQs

1- What is TENS stands for?

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS or TNS) is the use of electric current produced by a device to stimulate the nerves for therapeutic purposes. TENS, by definition, covers the complete range of transcutaneously applied currents used for nerve excitation although the term is often used with a more restrictive intent, namely to describe the kind of pulses produced by portable stimulators used to treat pain. The unit is usually connected to the skin using two or more electrodes. A typical battery-operated TENS unit is able to modulate pulse width, frequency and intensity. Generally TENS is applied at high frequency (>50 Hz) with an intensity below motor contraction (sensory intensity) or low frequency (<10 Hz) with an intensity that produces motor contraction. While the use of TENS has proved effective in clinical studies, there is controversy over which conditions the device should be used to treat.

2- How does the combined TENS EMS electrical muscle stimulator work?

Simply place the electrode pads over your area of pain, select the setting that’s right for you, and increase intensity as high level as you can stand! The drug free pain relief TENS EMS/PMS system is equipped with manual modes, delivering specific treatment techniques and automatic modes, using pre-programmed pulses, to optimally deliver therapeutic results ranging from deep-tissue stimulation, to invigorating muscle-building, to soothing relaxation.

To share the TENS unit, we recommend that each user have a separate electrode cord because the gel pads are connected.

5-What are the differences between the modes?

All modes are pre-set and designed by healthcare professionals for specific body pains. For example, in the lower back mode, the electrical stimulation pattern was designed to treat the type of pain found in the larger muscles of the lower back.

6-How to take care of the replacement electrode massage pads?

Before applying massage pads, clean your skin first if you use skin cream or if your skin is dirty. If the pads become dirty, you can use clear water.

Depending on frequency of use, the pads can last from one month to several months. If you find the pads lose their adhesiveness and it is very difficult to make them adhesive again by applying drops of clear water, or if the pads are worn out, you need to change the pads. Extra massage pads can be ordered. To change the pads, just unsnap the button on the back of the pads and clip on the new pads. Once you put a new set of pads on, the device will work like new again.

7-Is it acceptable to put the pads on my chest anywhere?

Do not put the pads on or near your heart, directly on your chest, or on your neck. This could cause heart disturbance.

8-I can barely feel anything from the electrode pads, what is wrong?

Check the wire connection to the pads and make sure the plug is securely plugged. Make sure the batteries are in good condition. Check the pads are moist and not worn out. Turn the switch off then turn on again. Please make sure both pads attach on same person’s body in order to feel the sensation. Generally increase the intensity level by turning the switch toward on.

9-How long can I use the TENS EMS power muscle stimulator?

You can use it as often as you like. You can use it from 20 to 60 minutes each time, 2 to 3 times per day for better and faster improvement. There are NO chemicals or drugs or creams involved. It is very safe for long term use.
